Egyptian Fatta Recipe for 4 People
Ingredients:
- 500g lamb or beef, cubed
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 4 pita breads, toasted or fried
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Ground cumin for garnish
- Chopped nuts (such as almonds or pine nuts) for garnish
- Olive oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Meat:
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the cubed meat and cook until browned on all sides. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook the Rice:
- Prepare the rice according to package instructions. Fluff with a fork and set aside.
- Prepare the Yogurt Sauce:
- In a bowl, mix yogurt with minced garlic and vinegar. Season with salt to taste.
- Assemble the Fatta:
- Break the toasted or fried pita bread into bite-sized pieces and spread them evenly on the bottom of a serving dish.
- Top the bread with a layer of cooked rice.
- Arrange the cooked meat on top of the rice.
- Pour the Yogurt Sauce:
- Pour the yogurt sauce over the meat and rice, spreading it evenly.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley, ground cumin, and chopped nuts over the top.
- Serve the Fatta immediately while warm.

- You can add a layer of cooked chickpeas between the rice and meat for extra protein and texture.
