Kebab Halabi

Syrian Kebab Halabi Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Skewers for grilling
  • Flatbread or pita, for serving
  • Yogurt sauce or tahini sauce, for serving (optional)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef with grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped cilantro, allspice, cinnamon, black pepper, cumin, and salt. Mix well to combine.
  2. Shape the Kebabs:
    • Divide the meat mixture into equal portions.
    • Take each portion and mold it onto skewers, forming long, thin kebabs.
  3. Grill the Kebabs:
    • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
    • Brush the kebabs with olive oil.
    • Grill the kebabs for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and nicely charred on the outside.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the kebabs from the grill and transfer them to a serving platter.
    • Serve the Syrian Kebab Halabi hot, with flatbread or pita on the side.
    • Optionally, serve with yogurt sauce or tahini sauce for dipping and lemon wedges for squeezing over the kebabs.

Note:

  • You can also serve the kebabs with grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
