Quiche Lorraine Recipe for 6 People

Ingredients:

  • 1 ready-made pie crust (or homemade if preferred)
  • 200g (7 oz) bacon, diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 200g (7 oz) Gruyère or Emmental cheese, grated
  • 4 large eggs
  • 200ml (3/4 cup) heavy cream
  • 200ml (3/4 cup) whole milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Nutmeg, a pinch (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Prepare the Crust:

    • Roll out the pie crust and line a 9-inch tart or quiche pan. Trim off any excess dough.
  3. Cook the Bacon and Onion:

    • In a skillet, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
    • In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion until softened. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the Quiche:

    • Sprinkle the cooked bacon and onion evenly over the prepared pie crust.
    • Spread the grated cheese over the bacon and onion layer.
  5. Whisk the Egg Mixture:

    • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, and milk until well combined. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg if using.
  6. Pour the Egg Mixture:

    • Carefully pour the egg mixture over the bacon, onion, and cheese in the pie crust.
  7. Bake:

    • Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve:

    • Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
    • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Optional:

  • You can add sautéed mushrooms or spinach to the quiche for extra flavor and nutrients.
