Turkish Börek Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients:

  • 10 phyllo pastry sheets
  • 200g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup spinach, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Sesame seeds for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare Filling:
    • In a bowl, combine crumbled feta cheese, chopped spinach, eggs, yogurt, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Assemble Börek:
    • Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a flat surface and brush it with olive oil.
    • Place another sheet on top and brush with olive oil again. Repeat until you have 5 layers.
    • Spread half of the filling evenly over the layered phyllo.
  4. Roll and Repeat:
    • Roll the layered phyllo with the filling into a log shape.
    • Place the rolled börek in a circular shape on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
    • Repeat the process with the remaining 5 phyllo sheets and the rest of the filling, creating a second roll around the first one.
  5. Brush with Olive Oil:
    • Brush the top of the börek with olive oil.
    • If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for extra flavor and texture.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Serve:
    • Allow the börek to cool slightly before slicing.
    • Serve warm and enjoy!

Optional:

  • Customize the filling by adding herbs, sautéed onions, or other cheeses.
