Turkish Börek Recipe for 4 People
Ingredients:
- 10 phyllo pastry sheets
- 200g feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 cup spinach, chopped
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Sesame seeds for topping (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Prepare Filling:
- In a bowl, combine crumbled feta cheese, chopped spinach, eggs, yogurt, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Assemble Börek:
- Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a flat surface and brush it with olive oil.
- Place another sheet on top and brush with olive oil again. Repeat until you have 5 layers.
- Spread half of the filling evenly over the layered phyllo.
- Roll and Repeat:
- Roll the layered phyllo with the filling into a log shape.
- Place the rolled börek in a circular shape on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Repeat the process with the remaining 5 phyllo sheets and the rest of the filling, creating a second roll around the first one.
- Brush with Olive Oil:
- Brush the top of the börek with olive oil.
- If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for extra flavor and texture.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve:
- Allow the börek to cool slightly before slicing.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
