Turkish Döner Kebab Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients:

  • 500g boneless chicken or beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon

For Serving:

  • Flatbreads or pita
  • Fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce)
  • Red onion, thinly sliced
  • Yogurt or tahini sauce

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Meat:
    • In a bowl, combine sliced meat with olive oil, yogurt, tomato paste, cumin, coriander, paprika, black pepper, salt, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the meat evenly.
    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for better flavor.
  2. Cook the Döner:
    • Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
    • Thread the marinated meat onto skewers or use a grill basket.
    • Grill the meat for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  3. Prepare the Accompaniments:
    • While the meat is cooking, prepare flatbreads or pitas and slice fresh vegetables.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the cooked meat from the skewers and assemble your döner kebabs with flatbreads, fresh vegetables, and your choice of sauce.
