Turkish Köfte Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients for Köfte:

  • 500g ground meat (lamb, beef, or a mix)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Ingredients for the Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Köfte:
    • In a large bowl, mix the ground meat, chopped onion, parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, tomato paste, paprika, ground cumin, salt, and pepper.
    • Knead the mixture until well combined. If the consistency is too wet, add a bit more breadcrumbs.
    • Shape the mixture into small balls and flatten slightly to form the köfte.
  2. Cook the Köfte:
    • Grill the köfte on a hot grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt, crushed garlic, and salt.
  4. Serve:
    • Arrange the köfte on a serving platter.
    • Serve the köfte hot with the garlic sauce on the side.
  5. Optional:
    • Accompany the köfte with pita bread, fresh salad, or rice according to your preferences.
