Turkish Mantı Recipe for 4 People
Ingredients for Mantı Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
- A pinch of salt
Ingredients for Mantı Filling:
- 250g ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Ingredients for Sauce:
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- A pinch of salt
Ingredients for Garnish:
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Fresh mint leaves, chopped
Instructions:
For Mantı Dough:
- In a bowl, combine the flour, egg, water, and a pinch of salt.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough thinly on a floured surface.
- Cut the dough into small squares.
For Mantı Filling:
- Mix the ground meat with chopped onion, salt, and pepper.
- Place a small amount of the filling in the center of each dough square.
- Fold the squares into triangles, sealing the edges.
Cooking Mantı:
- Boil salted water in a pot.
- Cook the mantı in batches for 5-8 minutes or until they float to the surface.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and place in a serving dish.
For Yogurt Sauce:
- In a separate bowl, mix yogurt with minced garlic and a pinch of salt.
Assembling:
- Spoon the yogurt sauce over the cooked mantı.
- Drizzle melted butter on top and sprinkle with red pepper flakes and chopped mint.
