Turkish Mantı Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients for Mantı Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
  • A pinch of salt

Ingredients for Mantı Filling:

  • 250g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Ingredients for Sauce:

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • A pinch of salt

Ingredients for Garnish:

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Fresh mint leaves, chopped

Instructions:

For Mantı Dough:

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, egg, water, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Knead the dough until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough thinly on a floured surface.
  4. Cut the dough into small squares.

For Mantı Filling:

  1. Mix the ground meat with chopped onion, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place a small amount of the filling in the center of each dough square.
  3. Fold the squares into triangles, sealing the edges.

Cooking Mantı:

  1. Boil salted water in a pot.
  2. Cook the mantı in batches for 5-8 minutes or until they float to the surface.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and place in a serving dish.

For Yogurt Sauce:

  1. In a separate bowl, mix yogurt with minced garlic and a pinch of salt.

Assembling:

  1. Spoon the yogurt sauce over the cooked mantı.
  2. Drizzle melted butter on top and sprinkle with red pepper flakes and chopped mint.

Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Turkish Mantı!
