Russian Pelmeni Recipe for 4 People
Ingredients:
- 400g (14 oz) ground beef
- 400g (14 oz) ground pork
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Sour cream or melted butter, for serving
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, eggs, and water. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Make the Filling:
- In another bowl, mix together ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Form the Pelmeni:

- Use a round cookie cutter or glass to cut out circles of dough.
- Place a small amount of filling in the center of each dough circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
- Cook the Pelmeni:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Carefully drop the pelmeni into the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface, about 5-7 minutes.
- Serve:
- Remove the pelmeni from the water with a slotted spoon and place them in a serving bowl.
- Serve hot with sour cream or melted butter drizzled on top.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
Optional:
- You can freeze any leftover uncooked pelmeni for later use.
