Lebanese Houmous Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (400g each) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup tahini (sesame paste)
  • Juice of 1-2 lemons
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Paprika, for garnish
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chickpeas:
    • Drain and rinse the chickpeas under cold water.
  2. Blend Ingredients:
    • In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, minced garlic, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt.
    • Blend until smooth and creamy. If the houmous is too thick, add water, a tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Adjust Seasoning:
    • Taste and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt or lemon juice if needed.
  4. Serve:
    • Transfer the houmous to a serving dish.
    • Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with paprika and chopped parsley for garnish.
  5. Enjoy:
    • Serve the houmous with warm pita bread, vegetables, or crackers.

Optional:

  • You can garnish the houmous with additional toppings such as olives, pine nuts, or chopped tomatoes.
