Lebanese Kibbeh Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients:

  • 500g lean ground beef or lamb
  • 1 cup fine bulgur wheat
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for frying

For Garnish (optional):

  • Lemon wedges
  • Chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bulgur:
    • Place the bulgur in a bowl and cover it with warm water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
  2. Mix the Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, soaked bulgur, chopped onion, pine nuts, mint, parsley, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
  3. Shape the Kibbeh:
    • Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into oval or torpedo-like shapes. You can also flatten them slightly for a traditional shape.
  4. Cook the Kibbeh:
    • Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
    • Fry the kibbeh in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Serve:
    • Transfer the cooked kibbeh to a serving platter.
    • Garnish with lemon wedges and chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
    • Serve hot and enjoy!

Optional:

  • You can also bake the kibbeh in the oven for a healthier option. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
