- 1 cup fine bulgur wheat
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons pine nuts
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for frying
For Garnish (optional):
- Lemon wedges
- Chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bulgur:
- Place the bulgur in a bowl and cover it with warm water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
- Mix the Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, soaked bulgur, chopped onion, pine nuts, mint, parsley, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
- Shape the Kibbeh:
- Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into oval or torpedo-like shapes. You can also flatten them slightly for a traditional shape.
- Cook the Kibbeh:
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the kibbeh in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Serve:
- Transfer the cooked kibbeh to a serving platter.
- Garnish with lemon wedges and chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Optional:
- You can also bake the kibbeh in the oven for a healthier option. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
