Argentinian Choripán Recipe for 4 People
Ingredients:
- 4 chorizo sausages
- 4 crusty bread rolls (French bread or baguette works well)
- Chimichurri sauce (see recipe below)
- Optional toppings: grilled onions, roasted bell peppers, sliced tomatoes
Chimichurri Sauce:
- 1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare Chimichurri Sauce:
- In a bowl, combine chopped parsley, minced garlic, chopped oregano, olive oil, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside to allow flavors to meld.
- Grill the Chorizo:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill the chorizo sausages for 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
- Toast the Bread Rolls:
- While the chorizo is grilling, split the bread rolls in half lengthwise and lightly toast them on the grill.
- Assemble the Choripán:
- Place a grilled chorizo sausage in each toasted bread roll.
- Top with chimichurri sauce and any optional toppings you desire, such as grilled onions, roasted bell peppers, or sliced tomatoes.
- Serve:
- Serve the choripán immediately, while still warm, with extra chimichurri sauce on the side for dipping.
Optional:
- You can also serve the choripán with a side of fries or a green salad for a complete meal.
