Argentinian Choripán Recipe for 4 People

Ingredients:

  • 4 chorizo sausages
  • 4 crusty bread rolls (French bread or baguette works well)
  • Chimichurri sauce (see recipe below)
  • Optional toppings: grilled onions, roasted bell peppers, sliced tomatoes

Chimichurri Sauce:

  • 1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Chimichurri Sauce:
    • In a bowl, combine chopped parsley, minced garlic, chopped oregano, olive oil, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Grill the Chorizo:
    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
    • Grill the chorizo sausages for 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  3. Toast the Bread Rolls:
    • While the chorizo is grilling, split the bread rolls in half lengthwise and lightly toast them on the grill.
  4. Assemble the Choripán:
    • Place a grilled chorizo sausage in each toasted bread roll.
    • Top with chimichurri sauce and any optional toppings you desire, such as grilled onions, roasted bell peppers, or sliced tomatoes.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the choripán immediately, while still warm, with extra chimichurri sauce on the side for dipping.

Optional:

  • You can also serve the choripán with a side of fries or a green salad for a complete meal.

Enjoy this classic Argentinian street food delight with friends and family!
