Ćevap Recipe for 4 People
Ingredients:
- 500g (1.1 lbs) ground beef
- 250g (0.55 lbs) ground lamb
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Meat Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and baking soda. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
2. Shape the Ćevapćići:
- Using your hands, shape the meat mixture into small sausage-like cylinders, about 8cm (3 inches) long and 2cm (0.8 inches) in diameter. Place them on a plate or tray lined with parchment paper.
3. Cook the Ćevapćići:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, add the Ćevapćići to the skillet in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until nicely browned and cooked through.
4. Serve:
- Remove the Ćevapćići from the skillet and drain them on paper towels to remove any excess oil.
- Serve the Ćevapćići hot with traditional accompaniments such as ajvar, chopped onions, kajmak, and pita bread.
